A great wine review from our friends over at Once Upon A Wine. Please be sure to check them out on Facebook and Twitter.
Recently Once Upon A Wine tried 2 cavas from Freixenet: the Freixenet Cordon Negro and the Freixenet Elyssa Gran Cuvée!
Freixenet Cordon Negro Cava
Freixenet is the orld’s largest producer of méthode traditionelle sparkling wines. The Freixenet Cordon Negro Cava has apple, pear and citrus fruit flavours. Light and refreshing. It is made from 3 Spanish white varieties (40% Parellada,35% Macabeo and 25% Xarel-lo). Amazing value for money at only $14 a bottle and in Australia it is exclusive to Dan Murphys.
Freixenet Elyssa Gran Cuvée
The Freixenet Elyssa Gran Cuvée is made using a blend of Chardonnay, Macabeo, Parellada and Pinot Noir. There are nice peach and toasty notes. Elegant and delicious. A nice example of a cava and $20 a bottle from Dan Murphys.

Wines were enjoyed compliments of Freixenet Australia. However, the opinions on the wine are my own.
